Alka Ceramics was set up by Paul Haber, it is the acknowledged Maltese flag-bearer of all that has to do with Ceramics. Ever since its very humble beginnings in 1980, Alka always sought to ensure that each product would be a blend of artistic inspiration, top quality materials and very high finish.
Based at the Crafts Village, Ta’ Qali, the retail outlet which is annexed to the production area, provides visiting tourists with a closer-to-the-touch experience with the artistic pieces on display. Besides a busy production line, Alka’s strength stems from its ability to meet customer demands from the public. No requirement is too complex, no piece is too small.
Alka Ceramics also runs an educational pottery programme which includes a large choice of different options for classes such as School Outings which are also attended by foreign language students, regular ceramics courses for children and adults, sculpture classes, throwing classes on the potter’s wheel which everybody likes, outings for groups which have been attended by many foreign groups such as by wives of foreign delegates to international conferences, organized tours for the elderly, family groups celebrating a special occasion and team building sessions for teachers and office workers amongst others.
Finally, Alka Ceramics provides many artists, craftsmen, and schools with a service of firing of ceramics works and sculptures. They also provide consultancy in the subject, giving advice re materials and the equipment to artists, hobbyists and schools. They also supply clay, tools and raw materials to potters and schools.
